jagti jheel ke sahil pe,
waking on the shore of a lake
kahein lay ke hatau mein koei saaz hasee,
placing some beautiful musical instrument to the lips
ek rangeen gazal gatay huvay,
singing a colorful ghazal
phool chelkatay huvay
causing the flowers to overflow

khul ke bhikray jo mehektay gaesu,
opening and spreading your scented locks
khul gaei jaisi hava mein khusboo,
opening like perfume on the wind
meri har saans ko mehkatay huvay,
scenting my each breath

tu nay cheray se jhukaya chera,

mein nay hatau se chupaya chera,
I hid my face behind my hands
laj se sarm se gabratay huvay,
fretting from embarrassment, from bashfulness
bhool barsatay huvay,
flowers raining down
pyar chekatay huvay
love overflowing
