EXCLUSIVE MOVIE REVIEW BY HANUMANT BHANSALI

This weekend brings a galore of choices for moviegoers. MP3 – Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar is made under the banners of Percept Picture Company. The film has been directed by multitalented Robby Grewal. The film is a love story and marks the debut of newcomers Hazel and Ruslaan Mumtaz.

MP3 is a young and fun filled film based on first love. The film deals with the people in love and not people around them, as in folks and villainy characters who usually act as barriers in the journey of love.

MP3’s strength lies in the treatment of the love story. The innocence of its characters takes you back to your old college days where fun was abundant. The teenage fun, the interference of friends, first crush etc makes MP3 a film which one can relate with.

Coming to the plot, Rohan (Ruslaan) is a sports fanatic and is the only son of his wealthy parents. He idolizes his father and is a dedicated class bunker. Rohan is brave, bold, smart and soft hearted. Ayesha (Hazel) is a simple girl with a sense of responsibility. She comes across an organized human being and a firm believer in the power of love.

The film begins with character establishments. Rohan is shown catching up with some nap. He then joins his friend Sudhir on his way to school. There he meets a beautiful and charismatic fresher Ayesha (Hazel). Their first meeting becomes a story of its own, as Rohan uses her to save himself from the punishment from the principal.

More incidents take place and add on to develop mutual attraction between the two individuals. Finally, as it had to be….they fall in Pehla Pehla Pyaar. Sometime later, Ayesha leaves for France after her egoistic scuffle with Rohan.

Rohan then realizes his true love for Ayesha and decides to leave for Paris to get back his first love. The plot then goes through certain incidents which prove as testing times for the love story.

The film maintains a steady pace all throughout and creates a fresh appeal frame after frame. The climax is well shot where the boy and the girl face various circumstances on their journey to the Eiffel Tower.

Musically, I think I am duped because the title track which is certainly the best track of the film is actually missing from the film. The other songs are just about average.

Robby Grewal execution of regular storyline is praiseworthy. He handling of the subject too has improved after his flop stint with Samay - When Time srikes. Cinematography is commendable. The beauty of Paris and Prague has been captured well.

Actor Ruslaan carries an innocent boyish charm which also happens to be his strength. Hazel is good looking and her on screen chemistry with Ruslaan is good. Ruslaan’s friends have done a fine job. The remaining crew also rakes in an overall good performance.

Overall, MP3 is a cool film with a fresh n young appeal. So if you want to catch up with a cute fun filled love story then get going with ‘MP3 – Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar’.
