SAATHIYA starts at a point where most of the Bollywood flicks stop. Love, yeah what after love and marriage. Is it bliss? Or is it a head on collision with harsh reality, that love ain’t enough?
Aditya Sehgal (Vivek Oberoi) waits for his wife, Suhani(Rani) at the railway station and she is nowhere to be seen. Cut. We are now in flashback where Aditya and Suhani meet in a wedding. His heart flips for her. Then he follows her in the local train. Initially she brushes him of, but then she agrees.

Both their parents meet, but then class conflict creeps in. they both part ways. But then its love. They both get registered married. Suhani disrupts her sisters wedding and is thrown out of the house. Aditya leaves home. They start life afresh. Its paradise, but then something goes wrong. Ego, jealousies and a lot more creep it, disrupting the bliss. Will life be the same again?

SAATHIYA is the remake of the film ALAIPAYUTHE. The original film is excellent, and SAATHIYA is not far.Shaad Ali, assisted Maniratnam is directing the original. Ali has done a fantastic job.

Music is scored by A R Rahman. Tunes are pleasing, but the lyrics and the music don’t gel well. Cinematography is good.

Performance wise Vivek Oberoi and Rani have done their roles well. The chemistry between the two is simply sizzling. Sandhya Mridhul, Tanuja and Sarat Saxena, have given good performance. Shahrukh Khan and Tabu are okay. Rest lend adequate support.
